MDP on Women Leadership
Dayananda Sagar University proudly hosted the Management Development Program (MDP) on Women Leadership on 27th September 2025, at Block A, DSU Campus. The day-long program brought together aspiring and established women leaders from diverse professional backgrounds to strengthen their leadership capabilities.
The program focused on Leading Self and Leading others, building confidence, executive presence, emotional intelligence, and effective communication, and fostering inclusive leadership.
Experts, including Dr. Sheelan Misra, Prof. Golda El Khoury, and Dr. Pavithra S, delivered impactful sessions through interactive workshops, real-life case studies, and networking activities.
The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from mid-to-senior Work professionals, and young professionals, all committed to shaping inclusive and innovative workplaces and had a great impact and the MDP was very successful.
SCMS Case Centre Organizes Insightful Case Analysis "Rebounding After Crisis: South Korea" by Prof. Anurag Jalan for management faculties
SCMS Case Centre had the privilege of hosting an engaging and thought-provoking lecture on 12th August 2025 by esteemed Prof. Anurag Jalan, centered on the featured case study "Rebounding After Crisis: South Korea". Known for his dynamic teaching style and deep industry insights, Prof. Jalan brought the case to life by blending theory, real-world examples, and interactive discussions.
The session opened with a succinct overview of the case context, setting the stage for participants to critically examine the challenges and opportunities faced by the protagonist. Prof. Jalan encouraged faculties to go beyond surface-level analysis and adopt a multi-dimensional approach, integrating perspectives from strategy, marketing, operations, and leadership. Throughout the discussion, he posed probing questions, prompting the audience to think strategically and consider the broader implications of their recommendations. His emphasis on data-driven decision-making, stakeholder alignment, and the importance of adaptability in uncertain business environments resonated strongly with attendees. All the faculties appreciated the balance between conceptual clarity and practical application, as Prof. Jalan skillfully drew parallels between the case study’s themes and contemporary business scenarios. The interactive format fostered peer-to-peer learning, while his constructive feedback guided faculties toward sharper, more evidence-based conclusions.
The discussion concluded with key takeaways on structured problem-solving, critical thinking, and the value of diverse viewpoints in case analysis. Overall, it was an intellectually stimulating experience that not only deepened understanding of the case but also honed essential managerial skills. The Case Centre at SCMS looks forward to more such enriching engagements in the future.
SCMS conducted MDP "Balanced Scorecard (BSC): Elevate Strategy Deployment"
The School of Commerce & Management Studies, Dayananda Sagar University, successfully organized a Management Development Programme (MDP) on “Balanced Scorecard (BSC): Elevate Strategy Deployment” on June 28, 2025. The session began with opening remarks by Dean-SCMS, Capt. Nagaraj A. Subbarao, PhD, who emphasized the importance of effective strategy deployment tools in navigating today’s dynamic business environment. Coordinated by Dr. S. Sai Ganesh, Professor, SCMS, the programme ensured smooth facilitation and active engagement throughout.
Two distinguished resource persons led the sessions. Mr. Satyajit Datta Roy, Founder & CEO of ThinkR and Adjunct Professor at Dayananda Sagar University, shared his expertise in strategy formulation, organization design, and leadership development. Mr. Chaminda Hettiarachchi, an International Management Consultant and Researcher of Strategic Studies from Sri Lanka, enriched the learning experience by conducting a hands-on simulation exercise on the Balanced Scorecard, enabling participants to apply concepts in a practical, interactive setting.
The programme covered establishing the strategic context for BSC, understanding its necessity in driving organizational strategy, exploring the four perspectives—Financial, Customer, Internal Processes, and Learning & Growth—recognizing the role of key themes in BSC implementation, and learning step-by-step implementation approaches. With 20 participants from diverse industries, the event encouraged lively discussions, peer learning, and concluded with an engaging Q&A session. Participants expressed high appreciation for the programme’s practical insights, clear frameworks, and experiential learning approach.

Experts decode India’s modern labour reforms in interactive session
BENGALURU, May 10: The School of Commerce and Management Studies at Dayananda Sagar University organized a Management Development Program (MDP) on Saturday, with a special focus on India’s new labour codes. The session was held at Gallery 3, Innovation Campus, Kudlu Gate. The session witnessed participation from HR professionals from industry, business leaders, legal experts, and academicians. Inaugural address for the session was given by Capt. A. Nagaraj Subbarao (Dean, SCMS, DSU). Key speakers of the session included subject matter expert Dr. Solai Baskaran (Ph.D, IIT), and Dr. Silky Sharma (Management Faculty at SCMS, DSU), who led compelling discussions on background, compliance, governance, and the implications of India’s reformed labour laws on all key stakeholders in Industrial Relations and Society at large.
The MDP offered a detailed overview of the four consolidated labour codes introduced by the Government of India—The Code on Wages (2019), Industrial Relations Code (2020), Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code (2020), and the Code on Social Security (2020)—which streamline 29 existing legislations into a simplified framework. The session covered the background of long awaited Labour Reforms, Conventions and recommendations of ILO, Fair Wage Committee 1948, National Commissions, changes in New Labour Codes, and their potential impact on employers, employees, and business.
The highlight of the session was a set of real-world case studies, including Infosys’s remote work policy, Samsung Chennai’s contract labour issues, the Maruti Suzuki Manesar unrest, and the challenges of inter-state migrant workmen and self-assessment exercises provided to the participating learners. These discussions underscored key challenges in labour enforcement, ethical employment practices, and international worker safety.
The event saw vibrant participation and positive feedback. Attendees praised the accessible format and relevance of the discussions, calling for more such training sessions in the future.
The MDP proved to be an impactful initiative, strengthening awareness and readiness for upcoming legal transformations, and reaffirming the university’s commitment to bridging academic knowledge with practical governance needs.
5 days Faculty Development Program held at SCMS DSU on "High Impact Research Writing in the Era of AI"
The School of Commerce & Management Studies (SCMS-PG) recently organized a transformative 5-days Faculty Development Program (FDP) on "High Impact Research Writing in the Era of AI" from April 21 to 25, 2025. This five-day hybrid FDP brought together distinguished academicians and research experts who shared their profound insights into the evolving landscape of research writing powered by Artificial Intelligence.
Each day of the program focused on a specialized theme, from understanding journal indexing and avoiding predatory publications, to leveraging AI tools for literature review, data analytics, writing enhancement, and improving research visibility. Eminent resource persons such as Dr. Amarnath, Dr. Sandeep Shastry, Dr. Padmanabuni, Dr. Senthil Kumar, and Dr. Bikash Ranjan led the sessions with exceptional clarity and expertise.
The FDP witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, research scholars, and industry professionals across India. It provided a unique platform to explore how AI can be ethically and effectively integrated into the research process, thereby enriching the academic output of today’s educators and researchers.

One-Day Workshop held at SCMS -PG held on Patents and Copyrights
A highly informative one-day workshop on Patents and Copyrights was successfully conducted on 14th March 25 at Gallery -3 in SCMS -PG. Organized by Dr. Somnath Debnath and Dr. Silky Sharma, the event featured Prof. Nithin Rajeeve, a distinguished expert in Intellectual Property Law, as the resource person. The workshop aimed to provide a foundational understanding of IPR, specifically focusing on the identification, protection, and leveraging of innovative ideas through patents and brand identity through trademarks. The targeted audience included researchers, faculty, students, entrepreneurs, and individuals keen to grasp the essentials of securing their intellectual assets.
Prof. Rajeeve delivered an engaging session that covered the fundamentals of intellectual property, distinguishing between patents and copyrights while delving into their respective processes. For patents, he elucidated what constitutes a patentable invention, the different types available, and the intricacies of the application process, including drafting claims and understanding infringement. Regarding trademarks, the session highlighted the significance of brand identity, the criteria for trademark eligibility, the registration procedure, and the implications of infringement. The presentation was enriched with relevant case studies and practical examples, making complex legal concepts accessible to all attendees.
The workshop concluded with an interactive Q&A session where Prof. Rajeeve addressed participant queries, providing valuable guidance. Feedback indicated strong satisfaction with the workshop's content and delivery, with attendees expressing enhanced clarity on protecting their innovations and brands. Future workshops may explore specific areas like patent drafting and international IP protection based on the feedback received. The organizers aim to continue such initiatives to foster a greater understanding and appreciation for Intellectual Property Rights within the community.
Management Development Program on Cross-Cultural Intelligence for Global Leadership
The Management Development Program (MDP) on Cross-Cultural Intelligence for Global Leadership was successfully conducted today at Dayananda Sagar University, Bengaluru. The program saw participation from 28 industry professionals from diverse industries. Notably, the cohort included a Swiss-German participant, adding an authentic cross-cultural perspective to the discussions. This MDP was designed to equip participants with critical skills to navigate cultural complexities in global leadership scenarios. The curriculum covered topics such as foundations of cross-cultural intelligence, managing cultural adjustments, negotiating across cultures, and fostering effective teamwork in diverse environments. The program emphasized developing high cultural quotient (CQ) to enhance leadership effectiveness and reduce cultural misunderstandings.
The sessions were facilitated by two esteemed resource persons:
- Capt A Nagaraj Subbarao, PhD, an expert in leadership and strategy with extensive experience in multinational marine engineering projects and global leadership.
- Prof. Mohan Srinivasan, a seasoned IT leader specializing in digital transformation and modernization with over 30 years of global experience.
- Prof Muralidhara G.V who brought an engaging approach to the session through a case study on cultural Intelligence.
Participants actively engaged in discussions, sharing their experiences and learning actionable strategies for building cultural sensitivity and leading diverse teams effectively. The program concluded with a networking lunch, fostering collaboration among attendees. Feedback from participants highlighted the relevance and practical application of the topics discussed.
Management Development Program on AI led Transformation in Global Business Environment
DSU SCMS conducted a Management development program on Artificial intelligence (AI) led Transformation in the Global Business Environment for Industry professionals and faculties on 27th July 2024. It was a comprehensive MDP designed to equip business leaders and managers with the knowledge and skills needed to drive AI-led transformation in a global business environment.
The program, conducted by Prof. Mohan Srinivasan, Professor of Practice, SCMS, DSU, focused on understanding AI technologies, their strategic implications and practical applications across various business functions. The objective was to enable participants to leverage AI for competitive advantage, operational efficiency and innovation and be prepared to lead AI-driven transformation initiatives in a global business environment. The program was interactive and included a mix of lectures, case studies, hands-on workshop and group discussions to provide a holistic learning experience.
Business Simulation Train-the-Trainer Session conducted on AIMA Bizlab
Mr Vijay Bisht, Master Trainer from AIMA conducted a business simulation 'Train the trainer' session for Faculty of School of Commerce & Management Studies (PGP), Dayananda Sagar University on 13-Jul-24. After training, the learnings will be passed on to students as part of their MBA program.
Mirroring the case study approach, AIMA business simulation gives students the chance to explore the dynamics of the specific business environments or markets utilizing applied learning without the threat of ‘real world’ side effects.

Dayananda Sagar University, School of Commerce & Management Studies is conducting an FDP for faculty on Understanding Bloom's Taxonomy (Overview and how to use it)
Bloom’s Taxonomy questions are a great way to build and design curriculum and lesson plans. They encourage the development of higher-order thinking and encourage students to engage in metacognition by thinking and reflecting on their own learning.

Virtual Business Strategy Simulation
Dayananda Sagar University - School of Commerce & Management Studies (PGP), is proud to be associated with All India Management Association (AIMA).
Our Faculty will be trained on a virtual business simulation project which will be then passed on to students as part of their MBA program. A great opportunity for students to learn new age business practices through a simulated environment.
