The department with top class infrastructure and facilities focuses on providing in depth knowledge, clinical skills, developing attitude, responsibilities, and promoting professionalism to the future leaders of health care profession.
Activities of department cover wide spectrum of patient care and services including adverse drug reaction (ADR) monitoring & reporting, drug interaction checking, patient counselling, ward round participation, medical history interview, drug & poison information and clinical intervention.
M. Pharm
About Course:
The department of pharmaceutics was started in the year of 2007 with the vision of providing skillful theoretical and hands-on practical knowledge to the pharmaceutics students, which enables the rational thinking and generation of innovative ideas. The course is aimed to make the students understand the concepts behind the development of pharmaceutical dosage forms including the novel drug delivery systems by imparting skillful learning blended with practical skills.
After completion of the course, the students will have a thorough knowledge in the design, development, manufacturing, quality control, quality assurance, in-process quality control, stability and regulatory aspects of pharmaceutical dosage forms.
The department is well-equipped with sophisticated instruments to carry out the research activities effectively. The department organizes seminars which provide a platform for the students to interact and interface with well reputed and renowned experts from the pharmaceutical industry as well as research institutes to understand the recent advancements in the field.
Highlights:
Pharmaceutics is the study of the quantitative aspects of drug delivery and seeks to understand the relationships between drug formulation, delivery, disposition and clinical response. It involves the design, development and evaluation of drugs in combination with an appropriate dosage form.
The department is committed to excellence in research, instruction and service which is demonstrated through the productivity and success of faculty, staff and students. The course is aimed to make the students to understand the concepts behind the development of pharmaceutical dosage forms including the novel drug delivery systems by imparting skillful learning blended with practical knowledge.
The department offers an environment that includes state-of-the-art laboratory instrumentation and technologies, devoted and experienced faculty and staff. The department is well equipped with sophisticated instruments such as the tablet punching machine, disintegration tester, dissolution apparatus, ultrasonicator, ultracentrifuge, lyophilizer and stability chamber to carry out effective research.
About Course:
Department of Pharmacology is basically involved in pre clinical evaluation of candidate molecule of both natural and synthetic origin in cardiovascular, gastrointestinal and neurological research.
Facilities include a well-established animal house and well-equipped laboratories to accomplish the objectives of the course offered. The department is actively conducting research in screening new chemical entities and herbal drugs for their possible therapeutic activities which can be exploited in developing a clinically useful drug molecule.
Highlights:
The use of medicines is one of the primary ways of battling disease. Drugs are used in the treatment of various illnesses like cardiovascular disease, asthma, stomach ailments etc. Pharmacology strives to analyze the mechanisms that drugs employ to bring about their therapeutic effects. Pharmacology is the study of how drugs work. The fundamental principle of pharmacology is that drugs act as healing agents and are effective because they mimic or block molecules that control natural processes like blood pressure, organ development, and pain perception. It deals with the effects of drugs on living organisms and their components such as cells, membranes, enzymes and DNA. Examples of important medicines are antibacterial drugs, anti-cancer drugs, anti-migraine agents, to name a few.
Pharmacology makes use of the information from many branches of sciences such as cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and genetics to discover new ways to treat diseases. This interdisciplinary approach of pharmacology allows researchers to assimilate different scientific perspectives in the study of how drugs act and how to improve them.
The main responsibilities of pharmacologists in the search for, and development of new medicines are:
- Screening for desired activity
- Determining mode of action
- Quantifying drug activity when chemical methods are not available.
