Course Structure and Syllabus
The programme is for 3 years (no Honours), with choice of 3 Elective courses (Digital Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations, Videography and Filmmaking) in the final year and 2 compulsory Minor courses (English Literature and Entrepreneurship) in the first and second year.
The CJMC curriculum is on par with UNESCO’s recommendation of a model curriculum and programme structure adheres to the NEP as well as SEP requirements, and is a complete package to the students who aspire to not only get into the media industry but also pursue higher education in India and abroad in Media and Liberal Arts.
Only media syllabus at the undergraduate level to cover all aspects of media studies, incorporating skills, knowledge and real-time practical work.
The programme has been designed keeping in mind the current technology trends and industry needs.
- Mandatory Courses: Constitution of India, Intellectual Property Rights, Research Methodology
- Core Media Courses: Communication Theory, Media and Cultural Studies, Media and Environment, Political Communication, Media Laws and Ethics, Media and Entertainment Business
- Liberal Arts Courses: Contemporary Indian History, Political Philosophy, Sociology, Basic Economic Principles
- Language Skill Courses: Communicative English, Kannada Basics, Narratives of Life, Narratives of Travel
- Value-added Courses: Principles of Design, Health, Fitness, and Yoga
- Theatre: Folk Theatre, Acting, Western Theatre, Producing a Short Play
- Technology-related Courses: Digital Communication, Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics
