About the Center
The Center for Advanced Study and Research in Intellectual Property Rights (CASRIPR), established under the aegis of the School of Law, Dayananda Sagar University, Bengaluru, is a strategic initiative dedicated to advancing scholarship, education, and practice in the field of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). The Center aims to serve as a hub for innovative research, academic excellence, and meaningful engagement with industry and policy-making institutions.

GUEST LECTURE THE INTERSECTION OF LAW, SCIENCE, AND TECHNOLOGY IN THE DEVELOPING WORLD

The Centre for Advanced Study and Research in Intellectual Property Rights (CASRIPR), School of Law, Dayananda Sagar University, Bengaluru organized a guest lecture on “The Intersection of Law, Science, and Technology in the Developing World.” The session aimed to enhance students’ understanding of the evolving relationship between legal frameworks and technological advancements in developing economies.
The event commenced with an introduction to the Centre by the student members of CASRIPR, outlining its objectives and ongoing academic initiatives. This was followed by the inaugural address delivered by the Dean, School of Law and Advisor, CASRIPR, Prof. (Dr.) Kiran Dennis Gardner, who emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary engagement between law, science, and technology in contemporary legal education.
Following the inaugural session, Mr. Paarth Samdani, Associate (TMT), Trilegal, Mumbai, delivered an engaging lecture highlighting the interdependence of law, science, and technology, with particular emphasis on the role of Intellectual Property Rights in promoting innovation and protecting creators. He further underscored the growing significance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the contemporary world and its evolving interface with law. He also discussed a case study on an Indian startup developing smart agricultural solutions, illustrating the practical challenges and the importance of IP protection in emerging markets. The lecture additionally addressed technology transactions, ownership and assignment of intellectual property, and mechanisms for safeguarding innovations.
An interactive question-and-answer session enabled students to clarify key concepts related to IP protection and technology law. The session concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by the student members of CASRIPR. The lecture was attended by BA LL.B. and BBA LL.B. students from the School of Law and significantly enriched their understanding of the practical application of IP laws and their relevance in fostering innovation and development.
The event was coordinated by Dr. Upankar Chutia, Mr. Nithin Rajeev, and Ms. Kirti Minhas, Faculty Coordinators, along with the student members of CASRIPR.
