Dr. Upankar Chutia
Associate Professor of Law
Dr. Upankar Chutia is an Associate Professor at the School of Law, Dayananda Sagar University, specializing in Intellectual Property Rights. He holds a Ph.D. in IPR from Amity University, Noida, an LL.M. from Symbiosis International University, Pune, and a B.A. LL.B. from Bangalore University. His research examines Intellectual Property Laws, Folklore Rights, and the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and IP protection. Dr. Upankar has secured copyrights for original works, including "Distribution of Ownership Rights Model for AI-Generated Content," and holds multiple published patents and registered industrial designs. His academic contributions span book chapters, research papers, and articles published in high-impact journals, including Scopus (Q1) and Web of Science indexed publications. He has presented at national and international conferences, receiving accolades such as Best Paper Presenter and Best Researcher. He is the Founding Coordinator of the Alliance Center for Intellectual Property Rights (ACIPR). Further, he has also supervised many doctoral candidates, of which two have conferred Ph.D. degree. Dr. Upankar also have served as an editorial boards members of several reputed journals, and organized seminars and workshops advancing creativity and innovation in intellectual property law.
