Inter-School Talent Hunt (30th September 2025)


As part of NOVA Freshers 2025, the School of Computer Applications organized an Inter-School Talent Hunt on September 30, 2025, at Campus 3, bringing together students from various schools to celebrate creativity and showcase their unique skills. The event aimed to encourage artistic expression, build self-confidence, and foster a spirit of healthy competition among participants, providing them with a vibrant platform to explore and present their talents.

The Talent Hunt featured over 30 individual and group performances across diverse categories, including singing, dancing, poetry recitation, mono-acting, and beatboxing. Participants captivated the audience with a wide range of performances — from classical and contemporary dance routines to soulful singing, expressive mono-acting, powerful poetry, and energetic beatboxing. A panel of judges evaluated each act based on creativity, stage presence, and overall impact, ensuring fair recognition for every performance. All participants were awarded certificates of appreciation, while winners in each category received special recognition for their outstanding talent.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty, creating a lively and encouraging atmosphere throughout the celebration. The Talent Hunt concluded on a high note with positive feedback and appreciation from attendees, highlighting its success as a key segment of NOVA Freshers 2025. The program not only celebrated young talent but also inspired the organizers to host more such initiatives in the future to nurture creativity and promote holistic development among students.



Expert Talk on “Technology behind mega global events: From Olympics to Super Bowl” (29th September 2025)


The School of Computer Applications, Dayananda Sagar University, organized an expert talk titled “Technology Behind Mega Global Events: From Olympics to Super Bowl” on 29th September 2025 at the DSU Innovation Campus. The session aimed to highlight the critical role of technology, IT infrastructure, security systems, and workforce management in ensuring the seamless execution of large-scale international events. Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 9 – Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, the event showcased how innovation and advanced digital systems drive efficiency, collaboration, and global impact in managing world-renowned gatherings like the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, and Super Bowl.

The session was delivered by Dr. Abraham A. Kumar, President and CEO of ProtaTECH Inc., USA, a globally recognized technology leader with extensive experience in managing IT solutions for mega international events. Dr. Kumar shared valuable insights into the deployment of IT infrastructure, security protocols, and global workforce coordination essential for hosting high-profile events. Drawing from his real-life experiences, he discussed practical lessons, challenges, and success stories from major global events, offering students a rare glimpse into the behind-the-scenes technological operations that ensure smooth execution and safety at such large-scale platforms.

The expert talk was attended by students from various schools of the university, providing them with cross-disciplinary exposure and industry-oriented knowledge. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where students explored questions about technology-driven event management, career pathways, and research opportunities in this domain. Technical Session on “AI on Cloud: Building and Scaling Intelligent Applications” (27th September 2025)


The School of Computer Applications, Dayananda Sagar University, organized a technical seminar on “AI on Cloud: Building and Scaling Intelligent Applications” on 27th September 2025 at the Innovation Campus. The session aimed to explore how artificial intelligence and cloud technologies converge to build scalable and enterprise-ready applications, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 9 – Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure. The event was designed to raise awareness about cloud-enabled AI, highlight industry practices, and bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world enterprise requirements, thereby equipping students with the skills needed for digital transformation.

The seminar was attended by MCA and M.Sc. Data Science (1st year) students, who actively participated in discussions and Q&A sessions. They gained valuable insights into cloud-based AI development, industry trends, and potential career opportunities. The interactive nature of the session encouraged curiosity and continuous learning, leaving students motivated to pursue projects, internships, and careers in cloud-enabled artificial intelligence. Overall, the event successfully combined academic learning with industry exposure, fostering innovation and skill development among students.

The seminar featured Mr. Satyam Jhawar, AI Engineer at SELA, Pune, as the resource person. With rich experience in cloud-native AI development, intelligent system design, and real-time deployment, he delivered an insightful session covering the role of cloud platforms in scaling AI, the use of containerization and serverless computing, and case studies from industries such as e-commerce, healthcare, and finance. Mr. Jhawar also provided practical guidance on essential skills, deployment strategies, and cost optimization techniques, inspiring students to strengthen their expertise in AI, cloud platforms, and DevOps for enhanced career readiness.



Navratri and Saraswathi Pooja Celebration (24th September 2025 to 25th September 2025)


The School of Computer Applications (SCA) celebrated Navratri with great enthusiasm and devotion, uniting students and faculty in a spirit of festivity and cultural pride. The celebration aimed to showcase India’s rich traditions while fostering unity, participation, and positivity across the campus. Each day of the festival was dedicated to a specific colour, symbolizing different virtues associated with Navratri—White, Red, Royal Blue, Yellow, Green, Grey, Orange, Peacock Green, and Pink. Students and faculty embraced the themes by dressing according to the colour codes, filling the campus with vibrancy and joy. This initiative beautifully reflected the values of purity, strength, energy, growth, and compassion, enriching the festive spirit and encouraging inclusivity and collective participation.

A special highlight of the celebration was the Saraswathi Pooja, held in honour of Goddess Saraswathi, the deity of wisdom, learning, and knowledge. Students and staff gathered with devotion to perform traditional rituals, seeking divine blessings for academic excellence and personal growth. Books and instruments were reverently placed before the Goddess, symbolizing the sacred connection between learning and spirituality. The serene atmosphere created during the pooja served as a reminder of the importance of knowledge, wisdom, and cultural heritage in academic life.

The Navratri and Saraswathi Pooja celebrations at SCA not only promoted cultural values and traditions but also reflected the institution’s commitment to holistic education. By blending devotion, celebration, and learning, the event resonated with the university’s vision of nurturing knowledge enriched with values. It served as a meaningful platform for students and faculty to come together, celebrate diversity, and strengthen the bond between cultural identity and academic pursuit.

Technical session on “Introduction to IoT Security: Protecting the Internet of Things” (15th September 2025)


The School of Computer Applications organized a knowledge-sharing session titled “Introduction to IoT Security: Protecting the Internet of Things” for 1st year M.Sc. Data Science students on 15th September 2025 at 3:30 PM. The session focused on the growing significance of cybersecurity in IoT systems, emphasizing how securing connected devices and networks supports resilient digital infrastructure. Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 9 – Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, the session highlighted the need for innovation in developing secure and sustainable technologies for the future.

The session was delivered by Mr. Veerababu (widely known as Mr. IoT), Senior Security Engineer at Crestron Electronics, who has over nine years of experience in IoT and OT security. He shared valuable insights on topics such as encryption, penetration testing, and vulnerability research, referencing his contributions like CVE-2018-11339. Mr. Veerababu also conducted a live demonstration using an NFC (VDP) Security Kit, illustrating real-world IoT security practices. He encouraged students to incorporate security into their academic projects and discussed career opportunities in IoT and cybersecurity.

The session was interactive and practical, offering students exposure to real-world IoT security challenges, data protection strategies, and industry case studies. Students actively participated by sharing project ideas and clarifying queries related to IoT vulnerabilities and security solutions. The event successfully bridged the gap between data science and cybersecurity, motivating learners to adopt a security-first mindset in their academic and professional pursuits.



MCA & MSc (Data Science) Inauguration and Orientation S.P.A.R.K 2025 (08th September 2025)


The School of Computer Applications, Dayananda Sagar University, proudly inaugurated the first year MCA & M.Sc (Data Science) programmes with a grand orientation programme titled S.P.A.R.K – 2025. The event was held at Canopy Hall, ‘A’ Block, DSU Innovation Campus, commencing on 08th September 2025 at 10:00 a.m. The programme, themed “Skills, Perseverance, Attitude, resourcefulness, Knowledge”, aimed to welcome and orient new students to the academic environment, values, and vision of the institution. Inauguration

The Inauguration Ceremony of the First Year MCA and M.Sc (Data Science) Programmes, organized by the School of Computer Applications, Dayananda Sagar University, was held on 08th September 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Canopy Hall, ‘A’ Block, Innovation Campus. The event marked the commencement of the academic journey for the new batch of students under the theme "S.P.A.R.K – 2025: Skills, Perseverance, Attitude, resourcefulness, Knowledge ". The ceremony began with an invocation by Mr. Kishan Sridhar Naik from second semester MCA and Ms. Anushka Sinha from first semester BCA, followed by a warm welcome address by Dr. S. Senthil, Dean of the School of Computer Applications. The traditional lighting of the lamp and felicitation of the chief guest were performed by all dignitaries present. The program featured inspiring addresses by distinguished guests, including Dr. Srinivas Katharguppe Subbaramaiah, CEO of Chankaya AI, and Mr. S. Ramachandran, Principal Consultant at Infosys Knowledge Institute, who shared invaluable insights and industry perspectives. Prof. Janardhan R, Pro Vice-Chancellor of the university, delivered presidential remarks that motivated students to embrace the values of S.P.A.R.K. As part of the orientation programme for first year MCA and M.Sc (Data Science) Programmes, organized by the School of Computer Applications , a session titled “Building Skills for the Digital World” was conducted on 09th September 2025 from 10:00AM to 12:30PM by Mr. Raja Krishnamoorthy, Senior Delivery Manager, IBM, Bengaluru. The resource person encouraged the students to recognize the importance of building skills for the digital world. He explained how technology is transforming education, communication, and careers, making it essential for young learners to equip themselves with digital literacy, adaptability, and problem-solving abilities. He motivated them to explore tools such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and collaborative platforms, highlighting that these skills would not only improve their academic performance but also prepare them for future opportunities in a competitive world.

He further emphasized that success in the digital era is not only about mastering technical knowledge but also about developing creativity, critical thinking, and ethical awareness. Mr. Rajamani’s illustrious career spans over 25 years, with key roles at globally reputed organizations and significant contributions to Data & Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Modernization, and Data Governance. During his keynote address, Mr. Rajamani shared profound insights on navigating the fast-evolving IT landscape, inspiring the students with his personal journey and industry expertise. His emphasis on passion, perseverance, and continuous learning resonated deeply with the audience, motivating them to embrace their academic and professional journeys with confidence. As part of the orientation programme for first year MCA and M.Sc (Data Science) Programmes, organized by the School of Computer Applications , a session titled “Secure the Future: Cyber, AI and You” was conducted on 10th September 2025 from 10:00AM to 12:30PM by Mr. Sivakumar Dhakshinamoorthy, Head of Services Support & AI Security Researcher, Lenovo Global Technology, Bengaluru. With over 25 years of expertise in IT infrastructure, AI governance, and cybersecurity, Mr. Shiva shared his vast experience on topics such as ethical hacking, evolving cyber threats, AI-driven enterprise security, data privacy, and governance frameworks. The session was highly engaging and interactive, with students encouraged to ask questions and reflect on real-world cybersecurity challenges. Mr. Shiva emphasized the importance of responsible AI deployment, trust-building in digital systems, and the critical role of future professionals in safeguarding enterprises from sophisticated attacks. Drawing from recent case studies and industry research, he illustrated how AI not only enhances security but also introduces new risks that demand vigilance and innovation. As part of the orientation programme for first year MCA and M.Sc (Data Science) Programmes, organized by the School of Computer Applications , a session titled “Ignite to Inspire” was conducted on 10th September 2025 from 2:00PM to 3:30PM by Mr. B.L. Harish, Life Skills, Soft Skills, Sales & BFSI Trainer, Bengaluru.

The resource person aimed to motivate and prepare students to develop both technical expertise and essential life skills to thrive in their academic and professional careers.

In his highly interactive talk, Mr. Harish combined real-world scenarios with gaming analogies to capture students’ attention. He compared leadership to being a “team captain in a multiplayer game,” where strategy, communication, and decision-making determine success. Similarly, he equated perseverance to “leveling up” in a challenging game, where each failure is only a checkpoint to learn and grow stronger. Throughout the session, he encouraged students to ask questions and clarified their doubts, creating an engaging and participative environment. His emphasis on soft skills development, self-confidence, and showcasing one’s potential left a strong impression on the students, motivating them to approach their academic journey with energy, clarity, and enthusiasm.

Encouraging students to step out of their comfort zones, she shared thoughtful insights on personal growth and the opportunities that await those who stay committed and open to learning. The session was informative, encouraging, and set a strong academic tone for the students.

It emphasized the unique advantages of starting during college, such as access to resources, networks, and a low-risk learning environment, while outlining the key traits of student entrepreneurs including curiosity, problem-solving skills, passion, and resilience. The session explained the entrepreneurial process step by step—spotting opportunities, validating ideas, building a minimum viable product (MVP), and refining solutions through feedback—supported by tools like the Business Model Canvas. Students were also introduced to campus resources like incubators, mentors, and clubs, along with evaluation parameters such as innovation, market need, and financial feasibility. Real-world success stories like Facebook, Dropbox, and OYO served as inspiration, while common pitfalls were addressed to guide students on their journey. The session concluded by motivating students to actively participate in startup clubs, hackathons, and mentorship opportunities, encouraging them to take the first steps toward entrepreneurship with confidence.

Ms. Alpa Patel, Assistant Professor conducted the orientation session, focusing on career opportunities and growth paths in the IT sector. She highlighted key roles such as Data Scientist, Data Analyst, Machine Learning Engineer, AI Engineer, Data Engineer, Software Developer, Cloud Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, Cybersecurity Specialist, System/Business Analyst, Database Administrator, IT Project Manager, and Software Tester, along with their responsibilities. The sessions emphasized essential technical and soft skills, industry trends, and the importance of business acumen and communication. Students were introduced to global certification programs from Google, IBM, AWS, and Microsoft to strengthen career prospects. Additionally, she provided a clear career roadmap outlining progression from foundational learning and internships to specialization, certifications, and leadership roles. The sessions also touched upon opportunities in government, teaching, and research, as well as practical guidance for campus placements. Overall, the sessions offered students a structured vision for both immediate career decisions and long-term professional growth, leaving them motivated and well-prepared for their future.

The orientation session featured a keynote address by Ms. Shymantha, Deputy Director – Student Affairs, who shared inspiring insights on leading a balanced and purposeful campus life. She emphasized the importance of engaging in cultural and technical events, participating in sports and wellness activities, volunteering in community service and NSS programmes, and building soft skills and leadership qualities beyond academics. A significant part of her address was guiding students through an oath, committing to say NO to ragging, NO to drugs and substance abuse, support the Swachh Bharat Mission, and promote unity, respect, and campus cleanliness. This initiative reinforced the university’s zero-tolerance policy towards ragging and substance abuse while fostering civic sense and social responsibility. Adding to the session, Ms. Bhagyjyothi, Sports Director, DSU, engaged with the students by sharing valuable information and insights about the sports club, NSS club, and other extracurricular opportunities, motivating them to actively participate. The combined efforts created a strong sense of belonging and responsibility among students, empowering them to become active, ethical, and well-rounded members of the DSU community.

The orientation session on “How to Protect Your Ideas – Patent!” conducted by Dr. Nidhya, Associate Professor, highlighted the importance of safeguarding intellectual property (IP) through legal rights such as patents, copyrights, trademarks, and industrial designs. The session explained that a patent is an exclusive right granted to an inventor for 20 years in exchange for public disclosure of their invention, which can be a product, process, or composition offering a novel technical solution. Key criteria for patentability—novelty, inventive step, and industrial application—were discussed, along with exclusions such as natural discoveries, scientific theories, and medical methods. Dr. Nidhya emphasized the multiple benefits of patents, including recognition, economic rewards, research promotion, and commercialization opportunities through licensing or technology transfer. The stages of obtaining a patent, from filing and publication to examination, opposition, and final grant, were clearly outlined, along with the significance of prior art searches to establish originality. Overall, the session underscored how patents not only protect inventors’ rights but also encourage innovation, research, and industrial as well as societal growth.

The Teachers’ Day celebration at the School of Computer Applications (SCA) began with a welcome address, followed by a tribute to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, whose life and vision continue to inspire the teaching community. Dr. S. Senthil, Dean of SCA, delivered an inaugural address highlighting the critical role of teachers in nurturing talent, fostering innovation, and driving the mission of the institution towards academic excellence and holistic development.

The program included a variety of cultural performances prepared by students such as songs, dances, skits, and speeches, all of which reflected their heartfelt gratitude and admiration for their teachers. Students also shared personal experiences, emphasizing the lasting impact teachers have had on their learning journey and personal growth. Faculty members were honored with tokens of appreciation, presented by the students as an expression of respect and acknowledgment of their hard work and dedication.
