About the Centre
Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution (CADR) is an integral part of the Dayananda Sagar University, School of Law, Bengaluru. The Centre is established with the aim to foster the tenets of alternative dispute resolution (ADR). The Centre commits to inculcate in the young legal minds of India and abroad the philosophy and skill of peaceful, efficient and final settlement of disputes through negotiation, mediation, and arbitration by continuously conducting seminars, conferences, expert lectures, certificate and training programmes, research projects, targeted publications and other allied activities.
Mission Statement
To inculcate and provide accessible, high-quality, and reliable dispute resolution skill sets to law students, advocates and corporate personnels through education, training, research and practical engagement in negotiation, mediation, and arbitration. We aim to develop future leaders in dispute resolution by equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and ethical grounding necessary to manage and mitigate conflicts effectively.
Vision Statement
To become a premier dispute resolution institution dedicated to fostering an environment of peaceful, fair, and speedy resolution of disputes, while promoting a culture of dialogue and understanding in the academic and professional communities. CADR envisions to become an epicentre of dispute resolution services in Bengaluru facilitating the start-ups and the corporate houses to settle business disputes in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

To conduct workshops, seminars, and certificate programs on various methods of dispute resolution, including negotiation, mediation, domestic arbitration, international arbitration and conflict management.
To encourage research in the field of ADR, contributing to academic knowledge and practical advancements in the discipline.
To extend dispute resolution services to the broader community, offering support to local organizations, businesses, and individuals in need of conflict management.
To build partnerships with national and international institutions, enhancing the centre’s capabilities and providing students with opportunities for global exposure.
To uphold the highest standards of ethics and professionalism in all activities and engagements of the centre.
- Composition of CADR
- CADR comprises of a total of ten members including one chair, one coordinator, one convenor, two co-convenors, and 5 members. It is not mandatory to fill all positions and the coordinator’s decisions shall be final in this regard.
- The Chair of the centre will be the Dean of the School of Law, DSU. The coordinator will be selected by the dean through any method the dean considers fit from amongst the faculty members and preference will be given to the faculty having experience in alternative dispute resolution. The convenor will be selected from the 4th year of 5-years Programmes or 3nd year of 3-years Programme by the coordinator through any method the coordinator considers fit and preference will be given to students having shown interest in ADR or have prior experience in ADR. The Co-convenors will be selected by the coordinator from the 3rd years of 5-years Programmes or 2st year of 3-year Programme in a similar manner of that of the convenor. The members will be selected by a committee comprising of the convenor and the co-convenors by any rational and fair method the committee considers fit, subject to the approval of the coordinator.
- The chair shall hold the office till he or she holds the office of Dean. The coordinator shall hold office at the pleasure of the dean. All other members shall hold office for a fixed duration of 1 academic year, that is August – July. The Centre will publish the current list of members at the beginning of each academic year.
