Prof. Arun Kumar N

Professor of Practice

Prof. Arun Kumar N has over 7 years of rich academic experience, supported by more than two and a half decades of extensive experience in the Information Technology industry, primarily in Application Development (AD) and Application Maintenance & Support (AMS) domains.

He has been associated with Dayananda Sagar University – School of Commerce and Management Studies as a Professor of Practice since November 2025. He teaches undergraduate and postgraduate students across a wide range of subjects, including IT for Business, Project Management, Operations Management, Data Visualization using Tableau and Power BI, HR Analytics, Marketing Analytics, and Business Environment.

Earlier in his academic career, he taught MBA, PGDM, and BBA students, handling courses such as Computer Applications in Business, e-Commerce, Data Science using Python, Advanced Business Analytics using SPSS, Business Intelligence tools (Tableau, Cognos BI), Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Advanced Excel, Accounting with TallyPrime, Management Control Systems, Software Engineering, and Data Mining. He has also actively mentored students during their internship journeys and played a key role in overseeing the deployment of an Education ERP system within the institution.

With over 25 years of association in the IT AMS industry, Prof. Arun Kumar N has worked with leading IT organizations, performing various managerial roles including Program Manager, Project Manager, Transition Manager, Business Area Manager, and People Manager, after beginning his career as a Developer and Project Leader. His hands-on technical expertise includes C, C++, COBOL, JCL, Informix, UNIX, and Testing, along with experience managing teams across diverse platforms such as Java, J2EE, JavaScript, VB.NET, ASP.NET, C#.NET, Mainframe, Oracle, SQL, DB2, DataStage, BI & Data Warehousing, Cognos, and Test Automation.

He has worked onsite at international client locations across the USA, Europe, Asia, Australia, and the Middle East, and has remotely managed global teams across multiple geographies. This exposure has provided him with deep insights into global clients, cross-cultural teams, industry practices, and domains such as Banking, Finance, Telecom, HR, Retail, e-Commerce, Healthcare, Education, and Organizational Transformation.

Additionally, he has briefly supported the CEO of a small and medium enterprise as a Transformation Consultant, gaining practical insights into entrepreneurial thinking, leadership challenges, and organizational change management.

His academic qualifications include an MBA in Information Systems and a BE in Computer Science, along with professional certifications such as PMP® (Project Management Professional) from PMI, USA, and Six Sigma Green Belt certification from the MSME Foundation. The extensive learning gained through various management, leadership, domain, technology, process, and tools-based training programs enables him to bring strong industry-academia integration to the classroom, greatly benefiting curious and aspiring students.
