Ms. Sagarika Biswas

Ms. Sagarika Biswas is an early-career academician and researcher serving as Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, School of Engineering, Dayananda Sagar University, Bengaluru. Her primary area of expertise lies in the security evaluation of Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG)-based blockchain systems, an emerging area at the intersection of distributed systems, network security, and consensus protocol design.
Ms. Biswas holds a Master of Engineering (M.E.) in Information Technology from Jadavpur University, completed in 2026. She also holds a Master of Computer Applications from Kalyani Government Engineering College, affiliated with Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, and a Bachelor of Computer Applications from Siliguri College, affiliated with the University of North Bengal. Her academic journey reflects a sustained and progressive engagement with computer science, culminating in specialised research in blockchain security during her postgraduate studies.
Her postgraduate research, undertaken at Jadavpur University, was titled “A Multi-Dimensional Security Evaluation of GHOSTDAG Under Timing Attacks.” The work examined the security of GHOSTDAG, the consensus protocol underlying the Kaspa network, a Proof-of-Work BlockDAG system that permits multiple blocks to coexist rather than being arranged in a single linear chain. Her investigation considered the behaviour of GHOSTDAG under realistic network and adversarial conditions, engaging with concerns such as selfish mining, block withholding, burst attacks, double-spending races, latency manipulation, transaction-ordering manipulation, and possible liveness degradation. The study combined structural analysis using static security metrics with attack detection based on dynamic and process-level metrics, alongside experimental investigation using Kaspa’s Rust-based implementation, rusty-kaspa.
Her research interests span blockchain technology, DAG-based blockchain architectures, blockchain and network security, consensus protocols, Proof-of-Work blockchain systems, adversarial and timing attacks, and the security and performance evaluation of distributed systems. She has qualified the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) in Computer Science and Information Technology in 2024, 2025, and 2026, and additionally in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence in 2024, reflecting a consistent depth of preparation across related disciplines.
As she begins her academic career, Ms. Biswas is keen on teaching, continuous learning, and interdisciplinary and collaborative research in blockchain security, distributed systems, cybersecurity, and emerging computing technologies.
