Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis
About the Department
Pharmaceutical analysis is a branch of analytical chemistry. It deals with analysis of drugs and pharmaceuticals based on pharmacopoeial methods and newly developed and validated methods.
Research involves developing new method and validation of new drug substances or drug products or developing new method of analysis for food or cosmetics or analyzing the stability of the drug substances or drug formulations or developing new bioanalytical method for the drugs in biological fluids or toxicity of drug substances based on ICH or FDA guidelines.
- The departmental activities are mainly focused on training and handling the modern analytical instruments such as HPLC, HPTLC, Spectrophotometers, Fluorimeter, Flame photometer, etc., by the graduate students and research scholars.
- The principal remit of the department is the discovery, development and application of analytical methods and techniques relevant to Pharmaceutical sciences.
- It has advanced facilities for carrying out qualitative analysis of drugs and pharmaceuticals using sophisticated analytical instruments such as LC-MS, HPLC, HPTLC, IR, UV and Fluorescence spectro-photometer.
