About R & D
College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (COPS) has clusters of research ecosystem across various departments. COPS is involved in transdisciplinary research and focus on building a vibrant research and innovation campus. The R&D centre is equipped with advanced facilities and modernized labs to support research for scholars, as well as clients of both industry and the clinical sector. COPS - R&D drives researchers to innovations leading to startups and inspires them to be a skilled scientific personnel capable of driving the pharma sector with an entrepreneurship mindset.
The R&D centre has a incubation unit with a central instrumentation facility, a centre of nanotechnology and drug development facility, and a Centre for Pre-clinical Research with small animal experiment facility. The R&D is involved in collaborational research as well as contract research inline with pharmaceutical industry. Research innovations at COPS, DSU is funded by SERB, ICMR, AICTE, VGST, including private industries. The institution has collaborations with more than 20 Pharmaceutical industries in the area of drug discovery and development.
Objectives:
- To create scientific mind set amongst students, foster skills in critical thinking, analytical, problem solving, and creativity.
- Seek research funding from central government agencies including BIRAC, DBT, SERB, ICMR etc.
- Identify the commercial viability of patents and to create revenue generation for self sustainability.
- Imbibe the scholars with technical skills and knowledge on drug discovery and development.
- The R&D thrives for quality publications in high impact Scopus journals (Q1-Q4) and supports publishing and award of patents.
- Uplifting the institutional research potential amongst scholars and faculty through regular trainings, workshop, conferences and research summit.
- Engage in translational research activities within departments of the university and the pharma industry.
- Supporting faculty research through seed grant and to facilitate transdisciplinary research.
