Dr. A. A. Nippun Kumaar

Associate Professor

Dr. A. A. Nippun Kumaar is an accomplished robotics researcher and educator with over 14 years of experience in teaching, research, and academic leadership. He is currently an Associate Professor at Dayananda Sagar University, Bengaluru. His research expertise spans robot learning, deep and reinforcement learning for robotics, autonomous navigation, ML based robot control, embedded systems, and human–robot interaction.

Dr. Nippun Kumaar received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, where his doctoral work focused on developing a learning-based navigation framework for mobile service robots. He also holds an M.Tech in Embedded Systems and a B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering, with a strong foundation in real-world robotic system design and deployment.

He has authored 21+ research publications in reputed IEEE, Springer, and Elsevier journals and conferences, holds two Indian patents, and has successfully completed two funded consultancy projects, in addition to ongoing industry-collaborative initiatives in robotics, automation, and intelligent systems. His work reflects a strong focus on translating research outcomes into practical, deployable solutions.

An active leader in the professional community, Dr. Nippun Kumaar is a Senior Member of IEEE and currently serves as the Chair of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS) Bangalore Chapter. He is deeply committed to mentoring students, building strong research ecosystems, and translating advanced robotics and AI research into impactful real-world applications.
