PREAMBLE
The Centre for Cyber Laws is established to address the complex and evolving socio-legal challenges posed by the ever-expanding digital landscape. As technology advances, from artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things to e-commerce and digital currencies, and as we navigate the post-COVID-19 world order, the Centre seeks to unite professionals, academics, technology experts, law enforcement, and students in a collaborative effort to explore and resolve emerging issues in cyber law. AIM The aim of the Centre for Cyber Laws is to advance the understanding and application of legal principles in the ever-evolving digital domain by fostering interdisciplinary research, facilitating education, and promoting informed dialogue. VISION To be a leading hub for pioneering research and dialogue on cyber law, driving the development of innovative legal frameworks that effectively address the dynamic challenges of the digital era. To shape a future where cyberspace is governed with clarity, fairness, and foresight.
MISSIONS
- Conduct In-Depth Research: Undertake comprehensive studies on various aspects of cyber law and emerging challenges in cyberspace.
- Facilitate Education and Training: Provide targeted training sessions and develop specialized courses for professionals, academicians, law enforcement, and students.
- Promote Awareness: Spread knowledge about cybercrimes, data protection, cybersecurity, and online privacy issues through various outreach programs.
- Foster Collaboration: Partner with academic institutions, organizations, and research bodies to advance cyber law research and practice.
- Organize Discourse: Host webinars, conferences, seminars, and discussions to address contemporary issues in cyber law and policy.
OBJECTIVES
- To spread awareness and understanding of cyber law topics, including cybercrimes, cybersecurity, and data protection.
- To conduct in-depth research into various aspects of cyberspace and cyber laws to address evolving challenges.
- To engage in training sessions on cyber law for different stakeholders, including industry professionals, academicians, and law enforcement.
- To collaborate with other organizations, universities, and institutes to support and enhance research and practice in cyber law.
- To publish research findings and develop resources that contribute to the contemporary cyber law issues.
WHY IT IS FORMED
The Centre for Cyber Laws will address the multifaceted socio-legal challenges of the digital age, driven by advancements in AI, IoT, e-commerce, and digital currencies, especially post-COVID-19. By integrating interdisciplinary expertise from professionals, academics, and technologists, the Centre aims to develop and implement robust legal frameworks. This initiative ensures proactive and responsive governance of cyberspace through comprehensive research, targeted education, and collaborative dialogue.
SEMESTER ACTIVITIES
The scope of activities under the Centre involves the following:
- Organise a Webinar/conference/seminar on contemporary areas of cyber laws.
- Conduct special session for students across DSU and guide them for more research in this area.
