Dr. Jobin Thomas
Assistant Professor
Dr. Jobin Thomas is an accomplished academician with over 12 years of teaching and research experience in Computer Science and Engineering. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science, where his doctoral research focused on time series analysis to assess the non-linear lag impact of environmental factors on schizophrenia admissions. During his research, he effectively utilized and enhanced an economic-based model called the Distributed Lag Non-Linear Model (DLNM) to improve exposure–response estimation in time series data.
His research interests lie in data analytics, time series modelling, and machine learning, with Scopus-indexed journals, conferences and book chapter publications. He is also the author of the books “GO Programming: A Problem-Solving Approach” and “JavaScript Programming for Front-End and Back-End Using Node.js”.
He has designed and offered a complete syllabus for GO Programming and is proficient in several programming languages, including Python (Anaconda, Google Colab, Eclipse, and major data science libraries), R (R Studio), Java, JavaScript, and C++. He is also skilled in using Figma for UI/UX design and course visualization, along with tools such as Tableau and MongoDB for web and data-driven projects.
His areas of expertise span machine learning, statistical modelling, data visualisation, and full-stack Web Technologies, and he has guided numerous B.Tech and M.Tech. projects. He also works as a consultant for Ph.D. scholars, assisting with thesis writing, research methodology, and model development. A passionate educator, he integrates activity-based learning, hackathons, and mini-projects into his teaching and contributes significantly to curriculum design, academic development and value-added courses.
