Assistant Professor

Mr. Ghulam Haider is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at Dayananda Sagar University, Bengaluru. He completed his Master of Technology (M.Tech.) in Computer Science Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar, under the supervision of Dr. Gyanendro Loitongbam, and his Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Computer Science Engineering from the University of Calcutta.

His areas of interest include Multimodal AI, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, Deep Learning, and Machine Learning, with a particular focus on building intelligent systems that integrate visual and textual data for real-world applications.

For his M.Tech. thesis, he developed a multimodal hate meme detection and classification framework, integrating CLIP, ResNet, BLIP, RetinaFace, FairFace, and RoBERTa to jointly model global visual semantics, local image regions, and contextual text within memes. The framework combines OCR, image captioning, and demographic signal extraction through cross-modal attention and gated fusion, and was designed to extend toward multimodal LLM-based reasoning for implicit hate and target-group identification.

His other notable project work includes an IoT-based Air Quality Monitoring System, built using ESP32 with a real-time Firebase data pipeline and a live web dashboard for community-level environmental monitoring; and a Deepfake Image Detection system combining Vision Transformers with EfficientNet-B3, trained on FaceForensics++, Celeb-DF, and DFDC using multi-GPU distributed learning for scalable, high-accuracy classification.

Mr. Haider has prior teaching experience as a Teaching Assistant at IIT Ropar, where he supported lectures, lab sessions, and evaluation for Operating Systems and Big Data Analytics: Tools & Techniques, working with over 120 undergraduate students. He secured a 99.12 percentile in GATE 2024 (Computer Science), and a 97.9 percentile in JEE Advanced 2019.
