Being passionate towards teaching and research, Dr. Sangeetha Gowda K R is currently working as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry in the School of Basic Applied Sciences, Dayanand Sagar University. Prior to this, she got 3 years of teaching experience in an Engineering college. She has completed her Doctoral studies from Department of Industrial Chemistry, Kuvempu University, Karnataka in 2015. Her Ph.D. research topic was “Synthesis and Characterization of macrocyclic metal complexes and nanomaterials: Studies on DNA binding and cleavage.” The focus of her work was synthesising novel macrocyclic ligands and their transition metal complexes and understanding the mode of interaction with DNA by conducting various DNA binding and cleavage studies. She has done her post-graduation in Industrial Chemistry from Kuvempu University, Karnataka. She has worked on project entitled “Cyclic Voltammetric investigations of dopamine at mannitol modified carbon paste electrode” at the Department of Studies & Research in Industrial Chemistry, Kuvempu University. She has also worked on a project on Biochemistry, Microbiology and Pathology from Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences, Bengaluru. Her research interests are ‘Chemistry of transition metals, Synthesis of Nanomaterials, DNA Binding, Photocleavage, antimicrobial Studies of metal Complexes and reusing waste for various applications’. She has 10 research publications in peer-reviewed international journals. She has presented her work in 5 national and international conferences. She has attended various national, international conferences, symposiums, workshops and faculty development programmes.
