Dr. Neha Deora

Assistant Professor

Dr. Neha Deora is a Biochemist enthusiast, currently working an Assistant Professor at the School of Basic and Applied Sciences, Dayananda Sagar University. She earned her Ph.D. from the Centre of Bio-Separation Technology, VIT, Vellore, focusing on the identification and characterization of plant-derived compounds using Bio-Separation techniques. Her research explored the anti-diabetic and anti-obesity effects of Aloe vera in genetically obese and hyper-glycaemic models, targeting key pathways such as DPP-IV inhibition and pancreatic lipase activity. She has trained at leading research institutes including CBST-VIT, NIN-ICMR (Hyderabad), and DMRC-ICMR (Jodhpur), gaining multidisciplinary expertise. She has published several peer-reviewed papers and book chapters. During her Ph.D., she received a Senior Research Fellowship from ICMR and an international travel award from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to attend the Keystone Symposium on Diabetes and Obesity. She has also presented her work at various national and international forums and briefly worked as a consultant with Jhpiego on maternal and child health nutrition. Her team received the Best Project Award in the 48th Student Project Programme by KSCST, 2025. Her current research focuses on identification and characterization of bioactive peptides from natural products and elucidate their potential against important drug targets in the management of diabetes mellitus and obesity.
