Dr. Manjushree H K
Assistant Professor
A researcher and academician specializing in biomaterial development, wound healing therapeutics, and biopolymer-based drug delivery systems, with a particular focus on valorisation of fish processing waste for biomedical applications. My work integrates natural polymers and bioactive compounds into innovative therapeutic platforms for wound care and tissue regeneration.
My research contributions include the extraction and characterization of Type I collagen from fish skin waste (both freshwater and marine sources), and its application in in vitro and in vivo wound healing models, establishing its potential in regenerative medicine. I have further expanded this work into nano-bio composites, such as nano-hydroxyapatite derived from fish bone waste, aimed at enhancing bone regeneration. I have also initiated plant-based wound therapeutic studies, particularly exploring the regenerative properties of medicinal plants for wound healing and bone regeneration. My interdisciplinary expertise spans natural product-based therapeutics, nanomaterials, biopolymer engineering, and in vitro/in vivo biological evaluations, positioning me to contribute significantly to translational wound care research.
