Dr. Durbadal Chattaraj
Associate Professor
Dr. Durbadal Chattaraj obtained his B.Tech. (CSE: 2002-2006) and M.Tech. (CSE: 2008-2010) degrees from Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (formerly, West Bengal University of Technology), and a Ph.D. (Engineering: 2014-2020) from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, West Bengal, India. He also obtained Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Data Management (CDM:2007-2008) from the Institute of Clinical Research India (ICRI), Bangalore.
Beyond the said conventional degrees, he did several certifications like (i) ``Faculty Recognition Certificate" from Palo Alto Networks Cybersecurity, (ii) a global certification of ``Palo Alto Networks Certified Cybersecurity Entry-level Technician (PCCET)" from Palo Alto Networks Inc., (iii) Certification on "Core Java, Advanced Java (Servlets and JSPs), Object-oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD) with the UML and Application Development with DB-2 and IBM Web Application Server (WAS)" from IBM Software Solution Pvt. Ltd., (iv) Certification on "Telecommunication Networks" from Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Telecom Training Centre, ISO 9001:2000 Certified Institute of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd., A Govt. Of India Enterprise, and (v) Certification on "Network Management (Linux Environment)" from Net Tech Solution Pvt. Ltd. India.
He has overall twelve years of academic, industry, and research experience. He has worked for different engineering colleges like JIS College of Engineering, Kalyani (Feb. 2021 - Oct. 2022), Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr. Sagunthala R&D Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai (Aug. 2020 - Jan. 2021), Narula Institute of Technology, Agarpara (Feb. 2011 - Dec. 2013), Seacom Engineering College, Howrah (Aug. 2010 - Nov. 2011) as Assistant Prof., Research Prof., Lecturer, Guest Lecturer, respectively. He also served Boden Software Services Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore as an Associate Software Engineer (Java-based Platform Developer: June 2006 - Jan. 2008). In addition to this, he has worked as a Research Assistant (Oct. 2019 - Dec. 2019) under the project entitled ``Ripple Centre of Excellence Scheme, CoE in Blockchain (Sanction No. IIIT/R & D Office/Internal Projects/001/2019)" at the Center for Security, Theory and Algorithmic Research, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad-500032, India.
He is a member of IEEE, IEEE Computer Society (IEEE ComSoc), IEEE Smart Grid Society, and IEEE Reliability Society. He is also a global member of the Internet Society (ISOC), a member of the International Association of Engineers (Hong Kong), an associate member of the Institute of Engineers, India (IEI), and a life member of the Youth Hostel Association of India (YHAI).
During his matriculation study, he obtained a national scholarship from Govt. of West Bengal, and also got an appreciation award from Somnath Chatterjee (honorable speaker of the Lok Sabha), Lion's Club India Initiative, for securing the highest marks in his taluka. He was the recipient of the University Silver Medal in his post-graduation (M.Tech.) degree. During his Ph.D. study, he received an M.H.R.D. fellowship from Govt. of India. Further, he received the Best Student Paper Award (Second Prize) at the Fourth International Conference on Reliability, Safety, and Hazard from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.
His research interests include Cybersecurity, Cryptography, Cloud and Big Data Security, Blockchain, Machine Learning, Internet of Things, Data Analytics, and Dependable Computing. He has published several articles in international journals (7: SCIE-6, Scopus-1), conference proceedings (5: Scopus-5), and book chapters (3: Scopus-3) in the above-mentioned areas.
He is presently a potential reviewer of various international peer-reviewed journals like IEEE Transactions on Computational Social Systems, Int. Besides academics, his personal interests and hobbies include adventure, expeditions, reading story books and magazines, swimming, sports: cricket and football, lawn tennis, rock climbing, and photography.
