Dr. Blessy Baby Mathew

Associate Professor

Dr. Blessy is as an Associate Professor and her expertise spans mainly on sustainability-driven approaches involving nanomaterials and biomaterials, with a strong interdisciplinary research focus. She has successfully led several government-funded projects (supported by DST, SERB, KSCST and VGST) as a ‘Principal Investigator’; and have coordinated Government funded Faculty and Student development programs. She has supervised multiple student projects that have won Innovation awards and ‘Best Project’ awards at the State level. She received the “Reviewer Recognition Award” by Elsevier in 2020 and was awarded for her research contribution in 'Sustainable Environment and Bioengineering' by Vision Group on Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka in 2022. She is a recipient of "Quality Improvement Program" at IISc under AICTE sponsorship for 3 consecutive years, "Nanomaterials apprentice" from MHRD, "Synergistic Training program Utilizing the Scientific and Technological Infrastructure" in Material Characterization from DST and 'Flow Cytometry sponsorship' from Becton Dickinson & Company. She was selected as the 'Bentham Ambassador' by Bentham Science in 2021, and has been an “Innovation Ambassador” under the AICTE & Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell, Govt. of India since 2021. She has an H-index of 22, have 6 patents to her credit and is a reviewer for several scientific journals.

• Recipient of "SERB-SIRE" Fellowship Award from the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) under DST, Government of India for the year 2023-24.
• Awarded for my research contribution in the field of “Sustainable environment & Bioengineering” and publications from Vision Group on Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka in 2022.
• Won the ‘Champions Trophy’ for the supervised projects at the State Level Exhibition Expo- Srishti, in 2022.
• Secured the “Best Project Award” from Karnataka State Council for Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka; for the supervised student projects in the year 2017, 2020, 2022 and 2025.
• Recipient of DST sponsorship to be a participant for in-plant training on ‘R and D equipment and Material Characterization’, conducted by NIT Warangal and Mangalore University in 2023.
• Recipient of DST sponsorship to be a participant for workshop sessions on “Using Model organisms in Research”, organized at IISER, Bhopal in 2022.
