Mr. Akmal Ahmad
Assistant Professor
Mr. Akmal Ahmad is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering. He completed his Master of Technology (M.Tech.) in Computer Science Engineering, with specialization in Software Engineering, and his Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Computer Science Engineering, from Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Aligarh, a premier Tier-1 Central University.
His areas of interest include Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Generative AI, Multimodal Learning, Natural Language Processing, Data Structures & Algorithms, Software Engineering, and Full-Stack Web Development. He has hands-on experience with the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express, React, Node.js), Python-based AI frameworks, and database systems such as MySQL, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL.
His notable project work includes Soarat, a real-time AI-powered health and diet monitoring application built with React Native, Express, and SQLite; an AI-driven content-based video search system using YOLOv3 and Bloom Filters for scalable, memory-efficient indexing; an Online Voting System employing facial recognition, biometric authentication, and mobile OTP verification for secure electronic voting; and a B2C e-commerce platform supporting online ordering, payments, and AI-driven product recommendations.
His research interests lie in multimodal deep learning, computer vision, and natural language processing, with a focus on building intelligent systems that integrate video, audio, and textual data. His research paper titled “Multimodal CNN-BiLSTM Framework for Soccer Highlight Generation” has been accepted for presentation and publication at an IEEE international conference.
For his M.Tech. thesis, he developed a multimodal AI framework for automatic soccer highlight generation, integrating video, audio, and textual modalities (V+A+T) using an 87-dimensional feature representation with a CNN-BiLSTM architecture to generate variable-length highlights.
Mr. Ahmad has served as the Placement Coordinator of the Computer Engineering Department, Aligarh Muslim University (2025–26), and has previously completed his tenure as Joint Secretary of the IEEE Computer Society, ZHCET, AMU. He has completed the NPTEL course “Introduction to Internet of Things” with a Silver Certificate from IIT Kharagpur.
