Dr. Vineetha MS is presently Assistant Professor in the SBAS, Dayananda Sagar Institutions, Bangalore. Dr. Vineetha has B. Sc degree in Biotechnology from Mangalore University, M. Sc in Biotechnology from Bangalore University and PhD in Biotechnology from Jain University. She was the recipient of Junior Research Fellowship for doctoral research. Her doctoral research was on “Isolation and Purification of herbal bioactive compound as an antidote for snake bite”. She worked on 2 species of “Indian Big Four” snakes such as Naja naja (Cobra) and Echis carinatus (Carpet viper) venom. After the completion of post-graduation in Biotechnology she worked as Assistant Professor in Biotechnology for PG and UG programme. Besides, working on minor projects which were her passionate areas. She gained research experience as a JRF in Bangalore University. Further, she gained research experience after her doctoral studies as trainee and visiting scholar at Microbiology and Cell biology department and department of electronics system engineering (DESE) laboratory in Indian Institute of science (IISc), Bangalore. She has been an active member at various symposia, research retreats and conferences. In addition to several awards she was awarded Best Poster Award at one of the prestigious conferences of Society of Biological Sciences (SBC) at its 85th annual meeting. Dr. Vineetha’s area of interest is in the field of Biochemistry, Enzymology, Toxicology, Molecular biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Phytochemistry and Molecular Biology. She gained expertise in screening, isolation, purification and characterization of enzymes and phytochemicals. She has practical knowledge and experience with biochemical assays, electrophoresis, enzyme characterization and purification techniques such as TLC, HPLC, GLC, ion exchange, gel filtration and affinity chromatography. She has hands-on experience in handling mice (in vivo model) and chick embryo model (in vitro) for studies. She has contributed 15 research publications in various national and international peer reviewed journals with good impact factor.
