Assistant Professor
Dr.Shristi Ram, is presently working as an Assistant Professor in Microbiology, School of Basic & Applied Sciences, Dayananda Sagar University, Bangalore. She completed her Masters in Microbiology from Jiwaji University, Gwalior and obtained Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the Academy of Scientific & Innovative Research (AcSIR), workstation at CSIR-Central Salt & Marine Chemicals Research Institute (CSMCRI), Gujarat, India. Her Ph.D. work entitled “Studies on carotenoid production from bacteria isolated from water bodies across Gujarat” comprehended various aspects of therapeutically significant carotenoid of bacterial origin using various microbiological, molecular, and analytical tools. The selected carotenoid was further explored for its promising application in a brine shrimp, Artemia salina as a probiotic and aqua feed. She has also worked in team for an extramural research activity entitled “Field study: An approach to supplement paddy nutrition through algalization” under a CSIR-800 societal initiative to nurture causes of social relevance. She has 11 published research articles including 3 book chapters to her credit and was awarded Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)-Senior Research Fellowship and Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR)-National Eligibility Test in the discipline of Agricultural Microbiology during Ph.D. She delivered an invited talk at International workshop & conference on Nutraceutical, Herbals Supplements and Nano Formulations (ICNH-2019), Kottayam, Kerala, India. Altogether, she has participated in 7 international and national conferences, and gave poster and oral presentations in 4. Her main research interests are: Carotenoid; Biopigments; Nutraceutical; Natural product chemistry; Bioremediation; Aqua feed; Green extraction methods; Circular economy; Antioxidant activities; Upstream and downstream processes; Food formulation; Biomass conversion; Biorefinery.
