Dr. Seema Tharannum

Professor, Dept. of Biological Sciences

Dr. Seema Tharannum is serving as Professor of Biological sciences at School of Engineering, Dayananda Sagar University. She obtained her Master of Science in Biotechnology from Mysore University, Master of Philosophy in Biotechnology from Bharathidasan University and PhD in Biotechnology from Kuvempu University. She has a total experience of 28 years in teaching and research. She had two funded projects, Principal Investigator for a UGC minor research project for 'Microbial mediated remediation of chromium in electroplating industry' for 1.5 Lakhs (2011-2013) and Co investigator for a CDAC sponsored project 'Detection of Pebrine spores' for an amount of 6 lakhs. (2014), the project has ended up in trade mark registry and commercialization of the product under trade name PP solution (PES Pebrine solution) at Institute.

She has 1 book chapter, 18 International and National Journal publications and more than fifty conference paper presentations. She has presented papers in India, Malaysia, Dubai, Thailand, Qatar and Singapore. She has guided more than forty post graduate and under graduate students groups for projects and has organized national and International seminars, conférences and workshops at Institute. Previously she has experience in serving as Assistant dean- Examinations, coordinator - Indian Red cross wing, IQAC Internal Audit member and organised community development programs. She is member of board of studies of various colleges and chaired many sessions at international and national conferences. She has been invited to deliver guest talks at different levels.
